The Italian Wine list Awards for Asia´s Restaurants were presented to the winners for the first time in the recently held Italian Cuisine & Wines Asia Summit that took place in Hong Kong from November 2 to 6. The category for Best Italian Wine List was shared by Bvlgari Ristorante, Tokyo and Gianni Ristorante from Bangkok. The award for Best Italian Wine Choice for an Italian Restaurant went to Otto e Mezzo Bombana.
“Italian wines as a category are increasing steadily, keeping pace with the popularity and opening of Italian restaurants.” The presence of Italian wines is on the rise in non-Italian restaurants as well. There is an increasing awareness in both the consumers and the restaurant industry of the huge versatility of Italian wines, which are the perfect match for all types of cuisines thanks to the ideal characteristics of acidity and tannins in most of them.
The Awards are reserved to Asian-based restaurants, specifically in China, Hong Kong, Macau, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Qatar, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka...
Wine Lists can be submitted to the competition by: restaurant owners, restaurant customers or Italian Wines in Asia’s Restaurants (IWAR) Awards organizers.
A Panel of Judges, composed by international sommeliers, wine experts, chefs and restaurateurs, will select the winning Restaurants in the various Award Categories.
The Awards are promoted in the context of the Italian Cuisine and Wines World Summit. The Awards giving ceremony will be held in the Italian Pavilion of the the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair.
